y name is Elizabeth Shaw; I teach the Antelope class in the lower elementary level. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a concentration in philosophy and religious studies. After college, I taught for several years at a private school in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. During that time I developed as an elementary educator and my passion for teaching grew. In 2011, my husband Dave and I moved to Reno where he was accepted into a doctorate program for geological studies. In Reno, I accepted a job with a local education non-profit, where I helped develop project based elementary education programs on environmental sustainability. My work there led me to High Desert Montessori School. I am currently obtaining my M. Ed. in Montessori Education from The Montessori Institute of Atlanta and Loyola University Maryland. I love working with children - every day is an adventure, and every day there is the potential for students to learn and do amazing work; sparking the fire for a life long love of learning. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, photography, practicing yoga, gardening, kayaking, and attending music and cultural events.
