My name is Ellie Busse, and I'm the science teacher for the adolescent program. I have had a passion for science since I was young. I loved being outside, collecting rocks, and learning about Earth’s processes. In 2009, I earned a B.S. degree in geology from the University of West Georgia. I worked as a professional geologist for five years before realizing my true passion, TEACHING science! I was ready for new adventures and took a sabbatical to kayak in Costa Rica and teach kayaking in North Carolina. I moved from the east coast to Truckee, CA in 2014 to spend a winter learning to ski, and spent the summer raft guiding on the American River in Coloma, CA. I’m currently earning a master’s degree in secondary education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Go Wolves! We all need hobbies outside of school and work; mine are: kayaking, skiing, yoga, hiking, music, and reading. Teaching for me is sharing my passion and constantly learning new things! And learning from all of you! In our classroom we value trying, hands-on engagement, experimenting, and making messes- this is a science class y’all!
