At High Desert Montessori, our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and the entire school community.
We are committed to creating a learning environment where everyone feels safe and respected, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or national origin.
We understand that there are concerns about potential interactions between our school and law enforcement agencies. It is important to note that law enforcement officers cannot enter our school without a valid warrant issued by a court. No student will ever be questioned by law enforcement without the expressed permission of their legal guardian.
High Desert Montessori does not collect or maintain any unnecessary personal information about our students and families, including immigration status, sexual orientation, or other sensitive data. We will never share any personally identifiable information with third parties without written parental consent or a valid court order. This is in full compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Montessori education emphasizes peace, tolerance, and the celebration of diversity. We believe that a diverse and inclusive community enriches the learning experience for all students.
“The HDMS community acknowledges and recognizes that HDMS resides on the traditional lands of the Numu (Northern Paiute), Wašiw (Washoe), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Nuwu (Southern Paiute) peoples who have been stewards of this land through the generations. We value the opportunity to live and learn on their sacred ancestral lands. We hope this acknowledgment can help us to learn more about these indigenous groups, learn to be the stewards of the land, and learn to support, elevate, and amplify the voices of those whose land has been taken from them, as well as those who are marginalized.”
